A-Trust Contributes Two Use Cases to the Development of the German EUDI Wallet

A-Trust is contributing its extensive expertise to the development of the German EUDI Wallet. As part of the architecture and consultation process led by SPRIND (the Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovations) on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Digital Transformation and Government Modernization (BMDS), Austria's leading qualified trust service provider has submitted two specific use cases.

The EUDI Wallet is one of Europe's most important digital infrastructure projects for the future. It will enable a secure, digital and independent way to manage identity documents, for example drivers' licences, certificates, and proof of insurance - across borders within the European Union. In addition, the possibility will emerge to sign documents directly from the wallet using a qualified electronic signature (QES), which has the same legal validity as a handwritten signature without any additional charge.

In Germany, SPRIND and other government and institutional partners are driving the development of the EUDI Wallet through an open process that explicitly involves companies and other private-sector stakeholders.

For A-Trust, this commitment marks another milestone in advancing European digital identity. Through its participation in the European pilot project POTENTIAL, the company gained extensive practical experience with the cross-border use of EUDI wallets and qualified electronic signatures.
